Here we are! Back at this time of year, where we can reflect on this past year. I think the best word to describe my 2022 year is “change.” This was definitely a year that was full of change and learning to adjust to different things. Here’s a little rundown of 2022.
January Through April
January
I started my year by writing out some goals and resolutions. My creative goals for 2022 includes having one photoshoot per month, uploading at least one blog post each month, and self-publishing one book this year. Three personal goals I have for 2022 is maintaining a work-life balance, drink more water and walk more, and changing some old thought patterns.
I also had the privilege of celebrating and taking grad photos for Mari. It was a gray, chilly day, but props to us for braving the cold weather together! Congrats, Mari!
February
In February, I turned 23 years young! I got the sweetest card from my co-workers and got to eat yummy food at home with my family! And 2/2/22 is such a fun date haha.
Specifically for Valentine’s Day, I decided to play around with some pink props (perfume and drinks) and glassware, which you can find here. Back in high school, we had a photography project where we worked with glassware, so it was a nice little homage to that class.
March
In order to celebrate International Women’s Day, I decided to ask some amazing women in my life about some advice they would give to other women. They came through with some insightful pieces of advice. Hopefully, they help you out!
On a personal level, I got accepted to grad school! WOO-HOO!!! That was pretty exciting! I applied to the same program from last year and ended up looking at my old blog post about grad school interviews to help me out this year. (Thank you, 2021 Pauline!)
April
Here we are in the springtime! I got to take photos of Kaprice at a local park in an open field. We got to soak up some sun on that warm, spring day!
To add another little personal win for me this year, I started therapy via Talkspace (thank you to my job for offering this service!). I’ve been thinking about doing it for a while, but thankfully I had this opportunity! Let’s take care of ourselves!
May Through August
May
The one-year anniversary of the “It’s Okay To Cry” book was on May 15th!!! In order to celebrate the one-year anniversary, I decided to do a fun flatlay photoshoot with the book, which you can find here. I created a little reflection post to go over my thoughts about the book and give it a little shout-out.
June
I think this month was the best month of the year! I say that because I went on a girls’ trip to California with some friends and took some time off from work! Here’s just a little PSA: PLEASE 👏TAKE 👏YOUR 👏PTO 👏HOURS!👏 You deserve time off and a break! It was a nice change in pace from my everyday routine at work. One of my co-workers actually told me that once I came back from the trip, I became more energetic and it made her enthusiastic too. That was so nice!
With that said, I created a blog post that kind of gives you an idea of what to pack for a week-long, domestic trip. I also wanna give Etsy a shoutout for the cutest Disney shirt! I got to go to Disneyland for the first time and I just HAD to rock a Disney shirt.
July
During the California trip, I documented all the different places we visited, the yummy food spots, and the beautiful beach photos. We went over to Santa Monica beach during sunset and wow! The beach was just DIVINE! I mean, the sound of the waves was so therapeutic and the sunset was gorgeous. It was definitely something I needed! If you ever need your dose of the West Coast beach, click here.
August
This month was my biggest “change” month because I quit my job (after being in the company for 3 years) to begin grad school. I haven’t been in school since the winter of 2020, so I was a little nervous to get back into “student” mode. But, I was excited to have a nice change of pace with what I’ve been doing at work. My first day of school was August 22nd and I met some amazing future school psychologists!
September Through December
September
It’s been one month since I began my journey as a school psychologist! I’ve met some awesome people through the program. There’s been a lot of things happening this semester. For example, during the first semester of the program, our practicum assignment was to shadow a school psychologist. I got to go to a neighboring county and shadow a school psych at the high school level. I’ve definitely learned and observed a lot!
October
I explored a downtown city not too far from DC with a friend. It was such a nice little city. We got to visit this cool art exhibit. There’s also this really cute Italian restaurant that we went to as well, which you can find here.
November
Grad school has definitely gone into full force! But, something I’ve been trying to be more intentional about is prioritizing breaks. In the past, I didn’t really practice taking full breaks; however, this time around, I really wanted to make sure I can take time to prioritize self-care and balance my life.
December
It’s the final season at school. I did my best to work on finishing all my finals early so I can extend my winter break! I got to play around with some Christmas lights, wrapping paper, red bows, and ornaments! That resulted in some fun Christmas flatlay photos, which you can check out here.
Thank you so much for being a part of my 2022! Happy New Year! Here’s to another year filled with more fun projects!
XOXO
Pauline
