Behind The Scenes: How To Live a “Barbie-Inspired Life” Photoshoot

Hi Barbie! 👋 I’ve been kind of ~obsessed~ with the whole Barbie aesthetic! It’s giving nostalgia and glamor fun. Something that I really admire about Barbie is how she is confident, kind, and talented. Not to mention, so fashionable! So I’ve been inspired to do a Barbie-esque photoshoot. For this shoot, my focus was on some different roles that I have, including being a grad student and a photographer. I also incorporated a little “Get Ready With Me” video that just gives Barbie Girl! So fun! I can’t wait to share them with you! 😆

Get Ready With Me, Pauline (Barbie)

I’ve been loving all the pink lately, so I decided to collect all the pink things I own for this photoshoot LOL. I also didn’t realize that a lot of things I used to get ready in the morning are pink (how fun!). This is giving glamor and fashion! The pink just makes it better! 💕

Grad Student Pauline

This grad school girl is working hard! She’s getting her work done, learning new things, and growing. Look at her go! 👏🏼 In order to give it that throwback Barbie aesthetic (for me, I’m thinking 90s/2000’s), I had to bring out my FIRST cell phone LOL. It was actually my mom’s, so my middle school phone was a hand-me-down classic maroon LG keyboard flip phone.

One thing about Barbie is that she is hard-working. Whatever she puts her mind to, she will do it! As I am going through this journey as a future school psychologist, I am learning to have a growth mindset and do the best that I can. As Mariah Carey once said, “I’m doing the best with what I GOT!”

Photographer Pauline

I was originally going to use this Canon film camera we had, but I just couldn’t find it… So, I decided to use this red point-and-shoot camera instead. Another little throwback moment! I think I like having this point-and-shoot because of that pop of color! Like Barbie with her many accessories and roles, I would say I’m a layered person with many roles as well. One role I have is being a photographer and a creative. So, my accessory is the camera. Although there may be moments when I doubt my abilities and compare myself to others, I still want to create and make space for my art to be on display. I’m working on being more confident with my work. C’mon Barbie, let’s go be confident! ✨
