What’s Your Word of the Year? 2021 Edition

This year, I wanted to find my word for the year (yes, I am jumping on that bandwagon!). After much forethought and reflection, I decided on the word, “Enough.” There are three contexts that this word will be used to empower me.

Word of the Year

The first context is, “I am enough.” I know, I know, it’s cliche, but it’s so important to understand that you are enough!!! Last year, before the pandemic hit, I attended this church conference and somebody was praying over me and basically, one of the things she told me is that God created me just the way I am. I’m a person who is very in-touch with her emotions and… I’m a crier haha. I used to hate that about myself, but I realized that that is the very thing that makes me, me! I’ve learned that it’s such a great thing to be able to connect with people emotionally and there’s nothing wrong with crying or being in-touch with your emotions. I don’t have to feel ashamed or bad for being emotionally charged. I am enough!

The second is, “I’ve had enough!” Over the past few years, I’ve let things slide when they shouldn’t have, so I am finally putting my foot down and doing something about it! I’ve had enough of feeling inadequate and in turn, missing out on some great opportunities. Those thoughts of not being “good enough” is something I need to get rid of. I’ve had enough of feeling not “good enough.”

Finally, the big question that I’ve been faced with is this: Is God enough for you? *pause for dramatic effect* haha but for real, is God enough for you? When everything is taken away from you, do you have the faith to say that God is enough for you?  I am still working on this myself. I’m trying to make God a priority in my life. I encourage you to read the following verses from the book of Psalm.

Psalm 91:14-16 “14 ‘Because he loves me,’ says the Lord, ‘I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.’”

This year, I am going to work on accepting myself as I am, take back my power of feeling enough, and rely on God more this year! I hope this inspires you to take a moment and reflect on your own life and make positive changes!

XOXO

Pauline
