Travel Diary: Celebrations in New York City 2026

Hello, hello 👋I’m back with my first travel diary for 2026! I can’t wait to share my trip to New York City. We got to celebrate my childhood friend (no, for real, we’re going on 22 years this year!) before she gets MARRIED!!! Take a look at our winter bachelorette trip to New York City!

Saturday, January 17, 2026 – Sleepover

To begin the trip, we decided to do a little sleepover up in Baltimore, where my friend resides. It was great getting to eat at local spots up in Baltimore. Our first meal was over at Maiwand Grill. We got the Lamb and Chicken Kabob Combos. After lunch, we had a sweet treat (as always!) over at Tous Les Jours, until it was time to pick up her sister from the airport. Afterwards, we got some Korean snacks from H-Mart (i.e., Banana Kick, Oh Tube Chili Flavor, Spicy Shrimp Cracker, Peach Milkis). For dinner, we got the Posieden’s Catch from Baltimore Seafood. Then we ended the night with a little face mask.

Sunday, January 18, 2026 – Train to Manhattan

This morning, we took the Amtrak up to New York City at Penn Station. Our first stop was brunch at In Common NYC. We got the following: Berries & Cream, French Toast, Smoked Salmon Tartine, Shakshuka, Hot Cortado, Iced Latte, and Iced Matcha. After our delicious brunch, we checked into our hotel and chilled for a little bit. Then we went over to Chelsea Market and checked out a couple of things there. We spent a short time here, so we went to Muji, Pearl River, and the local businesses. After a while, we went over to Pearl and the Beast. This was very unique because we got to shuck our own mussel/oyster, pick out all the pearls, and create them into jewelry. I opted to get some dangly earrings. Then, we ended the night with dinner at Osamil (in Korean, this translates to 5-3-1. Turns out, the restaurant is located on 5 West 31st Street. How cool!). We got the following food and drink items: Beef Tartare, Cured Shrimp, Seafood Rosé Tokbokki, Osamil Kimchi Fried Rice, Pork Shank, Mojito Noir, and Puppy Love.

Monday, January 19, 2026 – Goodbye, New York City

It’s our last day up in New York City (this was a quick turnaround trip). We spent the morning getting ready to leave. Once we checked out of the hotel, we went over to the train station. We got a matcha latte at Cha Cha Matcha (Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte and Iced Purple Matcha Latte) and sushi at Yono Sushi (Spicy Tuna, Salmon Avocado, and Sashimi). Then it was off to the train and heading back to the DMV.
