Chapter 26 | How to Make Your Birthday Special: Simple & Meaningful Ways to Celebrate

26

AHH we’ve hit 26 years! That’s actually so wild to me! Early in January, I got the dreaded piece of mail… I’m officially getting kicked off the insurance haha… 😭 so yeah. What a time! Anyway, I’ve made it a priority to make sure I am intentionally living in the moment with family and friends. So, in the spirit of embracing 26, I want to share how I celebrated this year—simple, meaningful, and full of moments that truly mattered. Whether you’re planning your own birthday or just looking for ways to make everyday life more special, I hope this gives you some inspiration! 🎉✨

Cute Bakery Vibes

After work on Friday night, I went out to a cute bakery with a friend! Sweets with sweet friends are a great way to start the birthday weekend! I got the Matcha Frappe, Soboro bread, and Red Bean Mochi Bread.

Karaoke Dance Party

I’ve low-key made this a birthday tradition of going to karaoke with a couple of my college friends. I got to the private room first, so I set up the machine and queued up some songs. I sang a few solos while waiting for some friends. Our room was located right by the bathroom, so when there was a line, a couple of people peeked into our room… While I sang my solos, I literally covered my eyes because I didn’t want to make eye contact with anyone LOL. We started off with some 2000’s classics, and ended on with Disney songs! Even at age 26, I will be singing along to Disney music! It’s nice getting to decompress from the week with good company and good music.

Sunday Brunch

After church, I went out to lunch with some friends from small group. It was restaurant week at Makers Union, so we got to have a nice little 3-course meal, including an appetizer, entree, and dessert. I had a double dessert and had a cheesecake and a bread pudding. Again, having good food and company is such a fun way to celebrate your birthday.

As I wrap up my 26th birthday, I realize more than ever that celebrating doesn’t have to be big or extravagant to be meaningful. It’s about being present, embracing the little joys, and surrounding yourself with people who make life brighter. I hope this inspires you to celebrate in a way that feels special to you. 🎈 How do you like to celebrate your birthday? Do you go all out, or do you prefer something more low-key?
